BIO / The Story
Rakesh Kasturi founded Fliptree Consulting, an innovation consultancy for new ideas, in 2011. Working at the crossroads of innovation, strategy and marketing, he makes ideas happen! He enjoys finding meaningful patterns in both meaningful and meaningless data. Also, he's not a big fan of jargon. He'd rather keep it simple.
Rakesh is passionate about helping his clients create new ideas together with their end-users, prototype/test them and eventually design strategies and business models to bring these ideas to the market. He works across industries and his goal is to find the best solution for your innovation needs - it could take the form of a co-creation workshop, a customized innovation process, an online idea campaign or a simple internal session to understand how innovation can become a part of your DNA.
He is currently working on an MBA (graduation in Fall 2014) in International Management from the University of Applied Sciences Nürtingen-Geislingen (Germany). He also has a Masters degree in Computational Science & Engineering from the Technical University of Munich (Germany).
He started working as a technical consultant in the German automobile industry across design and engineering ecosystems primarily helping OEMs like BMW, Audi, Ford and Volkswagen reduce development costs by using 3D virtual solutions to optimise aerodynamics, acoustics, thermal management and passenger comfort.
Although he was making ideas happen all along, he was formally introduced to the world of structured innovation management by working closely with BrainStore (now GoTomorrow). Since then, he is a big fan of agile project management and collaborative idea development.
He was selected as a Pepal fellow in 2012 to attend a workshop on social innovation in India and work on bringing clean, drinkable water to underserved communities together with WaterHealth International.
He's also a Prezi trainer, can cook a mean biryani while discussing the mysteries of culinary physics and enjoys setting up pop-up restaurants in his free time.
Specialities: Innovation processes/strategies, Business model innovation, Innovation management, Co-creation workshops, Customer Insight management, Strategic marketing, New product (or) service development, Agile/Lean Project management, Prezi training, Team building/nurturing, Startup advisory, Student Mentoring and Public Speaking.
